“Chinoiserie” might be my favourite piece! I had done the beading some time ago but didn’t have the right piece to “anchor” it. I was envisioning an antique Chinese bird cage but the universe hadn’t sent me one yet. I thought that a silver piece was too English-looking. Because I was short of inventory I dug deeper and looked through my dishes. The very first dish I laid eyes on was this tiny one with a Chinese lantern. Perfect! I don’t often use knife handles but I wanted the vertical lines to mirror those in the lantern and it turns out they make a great tinkling sound!
